The Floral Station

For this piece, I wanted to use descriptive lines as flower vines and have the
vine wrapping around something. With that, I was thinking about an old "INKtober" drawing I
did of a stereo, and thought it would be cool to use an old radio for this and make it so it's
overgrown. I love the look of overgrown items/places. Going with the radio not
having something to sit on is inspired by a Netflix game I played over reading week with my mother,
"The Almost Gone". This game also has the overgrown look throughout the
storyline and when picking up items the game focuses on that look and has it floating in the
middle of the screen. I also thought about simplicity, I find that if there is too much
happening, it will take away from the main object. I had it so the flowers were coming
through and around the radio, having the speaker screens punctured with a bit of
cross hatching, but only where necessary (darker areas and the screens). Overall my piece was also an inspired by my vast taste in music dating back to the 1940s and 50s, which the radio is indicative of. Flowers are always growing on the fences of my childhood home. This is a piece of myself.
